If you are a new bird in the pickleball area, I would recommend the carbon pickleball paddles, which might provide you a better feeling and bigger size of sweet heart, enhancing your self-confidence and reducing the difficulty of playing pickleball. In contrast, if you get a lot of experience in pickleball set, I believe you don’t need my advice anymore, just follow your heart and pick your cup of tea!

4 different types of Surface materials for pickleball paddles

In terms of choosing the right paddles for a pickleball player, there is some information that you must know. There are 4 types of common paddles you would see in shopping malls and so on. Let's know more about them.

1.fiberglass/composite

fiberglass are also called composite materials. Some players are confused about the difference between fiberglass and composite. I would say that they are totally the same thing. 

In some shopping websites we can see that more and more fiberglass are occupying the best seller site as it combines the advantages of good price and the best power.

The advantages of fiberglass are power and good-price; but the disadvantages are smaller sweet spots. 

For the reason of power, this is because the feature of fiberglass is a little bit softer compared with other materials(carbon & graphite), in this case, when you are picking a ball it would turn it back rapidly. As for why fiberglass has a smaller size in the sweet spot(which can help a new player find a good way to play the sport), it also comes from the feature—softness. The softer materials would reduce the size of the sweet spot.

2.Carbon Fiber

As its name suggests, carbon paddles are made of carbon fiber. Due to the affordable price, bigger sweet spot and good control,carbon fiber was the king in the pickleball forest before the showing of fiberglass. This material is not as soft as fiberglass, which can transform the power straightforwardly when you are picking the ball. The larger sweet spot can make you feel better in games, but the power is its weakness.

3.Graphite

Graphite paddles belong to carbon fiber, but they are not as common as fiberglass and carbon fiber, at a more expensive price. While, it combines the advantages between fiberglass and carbon fiber—-good feeling and control.

4.Hybrids

This is a new style of paddles, in which you can find your specific loved one if you are a middle or high-lever pickleball player. Some of the paddles are points into the power, which may be made from more glass fiber. In contrast, some players enthusiastic about the feeling of control, might pretend to choose the hybrids which added more carbon fiber.
